Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education (PIE) invites the community to a magical morning of holiday cheer as families are invited to Meet Santa. The event will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Griffin’s Morgan Hall, located at 8th Street.
Admission is free! The event is sponsored by U-Save It Pharmacy and Claxton Hobbs Pharmacy. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the local community food bank. Donations will be accepted and used to fund field trip scholarships for students.
To ensure a visit with Santa, attendees should sign up in advance through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/meet-santa-griffin-spalding-partners-in-education-tickets-1100941388329?aff=oddtdtcreator.
For a cash donation (minimum $5), children can explore Santa’s Workshop, where they’ll create reindeer food, write letters to Santa, color Christmas pictures and engage in other holiday crafts under the guidance of Santa’s cheerful elves.

Dear GSCS,
This is a reminder that tomorrow, November 5, 2024, is an at home learning day for students and it is a teacher workday. No students should report to GSCS campuses tomorrow. The following link provides a tutorial of how students access their work from home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_0PAarGYIE

Dear Moreland Road Families:
To make up for the learning loss caused by the school closures on September 26 and 27, 2024, students will be expected to participate in an at-home learning day on November 5, 2024, completing assignments at home at their own pace.
Student Expectations:
**Students will participate in the At-Home Learning Day on November 5, 2024.
**Students will complete virtual learning assignments online during At-Home Learning Day.
**Students will complete their assignments anytime during the At-Home Learning Day;
they do not have to be logged into a program during school hours.
**A device is available for students during the At-Home Learning Day; however, students may opt to use a personal device that he/she has at home.
--CANVAS page will automatically launch once students log into their devices.
--No Hotspots will be provided, so student computers need to be set up for “offline”
usage.
--Chargers will not be sent home.
**Work will be graded as a daily assignment. All assignments are due by Friday, November 8, 2024.
If you have not returned the "yellow" and "blue" forms sent home this week, please complete the Device Request and electronic Student Technology Agreement via the link below:

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Andrews at anissa.andrews@gscs.org.
Thank you for your help in this!!

Last evening GSCS held a town hall meeting to open a conversation about students’ cell phone use in school. Do cell phones compliment students' educational experience or create conflict? Schools across the state and nation have implemented policies regarding cell phones. Click this link to watch a video of an example of one option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRQa8X5ORek
There is no proposal in GSCS, at this time, we simply would like to gather feedback from staff, students, parents and community members on this subject. Use the following link or scan the QR code in the image to take the survey. https://tejoin.com/scroll/624212205
Please complete the survey questions and answer the primary question in the Thought Exchange then please rate at least ten of the thoughts that others have shared. If the thought is something you believe has merit and should be further discussed rate it a four or a five. If the idea is not something that resonates as needing additional conversation rate it lower (1,2,3). Thank you in advance for your valuable feedback.

Reminder: Town Hall meeting regarding cell phones in the classroom this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Griffin Auditorium - 324 East Taylor St. Griffin, GA 30224.
